In Agony in the Garden, Ribeira extends this visual language into an allegorical reflection on the uncertainties of contemporary life. Created in collaboration with young people across the peripheries of Madrid, Málaga, Granada and Almería, the series presents a landscape suspended between the ancient and the contemporary, where religious iconography, digital culture and everyday gestures coexist. Rather than documenting social realities directly, the work embraces photography's capacity to construct images that speak to broader emotional and political conditions. Through theatricality and collaboration, Agony in the Garden transforms lived experience into a timeless visual narrative in which tragedy, resilience and the search for belonging exist side by side.
